“Crittenden and Community Volunteer Fire Department shall be doing business under the title: Crittenden Fire Rescue, known as an emergency response organization, based in the City of Crittenden, serving Northern Grant County, Kentucky, these United States of America, and wherever we are called to serve.

The Department’s guiding beacon, defining our purpose and thus priorities in guardianship of the public trust, are hereby stated as recorded.

“We hereby declare our commitment to this listing of priorities in service of our community, our state, our nation and our fellow man. The primary goal shall be THE PRESERVATION OF LIFE, QUALITY of LIFE, and EASING of SUFFERING; Property Preservation, Environmental Preservation and Mitigation of All Crises shall define our mission in securing the public well-being.”

In time of need, these priorities shall guide our response, actions and goals for serving all persons who reside or pass through our area of responsibility as well as any area we are called to serve.

Crittenden and Community Volunteer Fire Department, known in these modern times as Crittenden Fire Rescue, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organzation serving the City of Crittenden and Northern Grant County, Kentucky. Established in 1949 with the combining of three Ruritan Club fire services, Crittenden Fire Rescue serves approximately 5800 persons within 28.9 square miles including a large area of Interstate highway I-75 and US Highway 25 also known as ” The Dixie Highway”, resulting in a fire-rescue response call volume of 800+ calls per year.

With a roster of 25 responders, two senior officers, two majors, two captains and three lieutenants, our volunteer crews respond on multiple scenarios ranging from alarm drops, brush and vehicle fire to structure fires, first response medical calls to motor vehicle incidences and industrial accidents as well as mutual aid calls to surrounding fire districts. CFR operates a fleet of two 1000 gallon 1250+gpm pumpers, two 2000+gallon fire tenders, a light rescue/brush vehicle, a 75 foot platform aerial with waterway, plus a command /medical / lighting vehicle with a towed 25kw light tower/generator.

Crittenden Fire Rescue also, in cooperation with the City of Dry Ridge, houses one of the four Emergency Care units covering Grant County. This is an Advanced Life Support emergency unit staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with cross trained fire/EMS personnel who respond with the Crittenden volunteers as well. In return, Dry Ridge Fire Department houses one of Crittenden Fire’s Tenders in their Station 2, located in the Mount Zion area, for increased rural fire protection and enhanced water supply in low hydranted areas.

• When open burning please notify Kentucky State Police Post 6 at (859) 428-1212 to prevent an unintentional fire response.
• During fire seasons, it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Spring Forest Fire Hazard Season: Feb. 15 – April 30.
• Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season: Oct. 1 – Dec. 15.

Burn bans generally prohibit the following:

1. Burning of forest, grass, crops, woodlands, marshes or other similar areas.
2. Burning leaves or debris.
3. Campfires, bonfires and warming fires.
4. Open pit cooking and charcoal grilling.
5. Use of fireworks and welding may also be prohibited or regulated.
